About
Aloha Maui Creations
Artwork is designed and created by local artist Cecilia Bahena who is well known for her original oil paintings and multi media art (power and artistic doll sculptures). Her artwork is exhibited at Maui Hands in Paia, Hyatt Regency and on Front street, Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center in Makawao, Haleakala Trading Company in Kihei and the Lahaina Arts Society as well as various galleries in California and Oregon.
Her artwork is in private collections around the world. She has been generating Hawaiian themed artwork and designs since 1976 where she lived on the North shore of Oahu with her father. She spent her days as a teenage girl making beach wear and crocheted bikini's for herself and friends so they could enjoy the beach at Waimea Bay.
It wasn't long before she began to embellish the clothing with paint...the rest is history.
Currently, Cecilia gathers inspiration from the beauty of Maui and from her Maui Ohana especially her four children and five grandchildren who were born and raised in Hawaii. Her concept of Aloha Maui Creations began in 1988 when she was offered various teaching positions to instruct art to hundreds of local youth around Maui. For 20 years she has inspired Maui's youth to share "Aloha" and be creative in their art. Her favorite work was with at-risk youth from Harbor Lights, Kahikili Terrace, Luana Gardens, Ola Hou, Salvation Army, Ka haka ake ole Homeless Shelter, Women Helping Women...the list goes on and on.
She also instructed at the MACC, Boys and Girls Club and for the Kihei Arts Council, Kihei School, Lahaina Arts Society, Kapalua Art School, St. Anthony School, Emmanuel Lutheran School and senior centers. In California she instructed art to youth and adults for the San Luis Obispo Art Center, Los Padres Art Guild, Solvang Elemntary, Los Olivos Arts Outreach program, Gaudalupe Art and Education Center, Stampers Station and Del Cielo Retirement Home.
Cecilia is certified by the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts as an art instructor for school teachers. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Plein Air Painters of Maui, Hui Noeau Visual Art Center, Lahaina Arts Society and other organizations.
Bahena began her art education in Honolulu at the Foss school of Fine art and private classes with famous potrait artist Daniel Green. She is educated in art therapy and child psychology and is known as the "Art Lady" to many people around the island.
